If you are having issues with Audio in laptop, please confirm below settings:
Check if the Speakers icon is showing Red cross icon, if yes, the issue is drivers related and we need to re-install drivers.
If Drivers are fine, please try to use headphones or some other audio devices and confirm if it is not related to hardware, if hardware issue, consider replacing it, if not, move to Step 1.
Step 1: Check if the Speaker level is muted :
- Right Click on the Speaker icon in System tray (bottom right corner)
- Click on Open sound settings >> Device Properties >> Addition Device Properties
- In Sounds window, under playback tab click on the Device you are using(e.g Speakers)
- Click on Properties
- In Properties window, navigate to Level tab
- In Level Tab, check if the Speakers level is muted, if yes, click on the icon to unmute it and save the settings
Step 2: Check if the microphone level is muted :
- Right Click on the Speaker icon in System tray (bottom right corner)
- Click on Open sound settings >> Device Properties >> Addition Device Properties
- In Sounds window, under Recording tab click on the Device you are using (e.g Microphone)
- Click on Properties
- In Properties window, navigate to Level tab
- In Level Tab, check if the Microphone level is muted, if yes, click on the icon to unmute it and save the settings
Step 3: Re-install Audio Drivers:
- Open Device Manager. To do so, right-click on the Start button and then click Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager, expand Audio Inputs and Outputs to see all Devices
- In here, right-click on the Audio input/output device (e.g Conexant Audio device) and click Uninstall device option.
- When you see the confirmation dialog, please click Uninstall button to uninstall the driver, uncheck the box to uninstall the Device.
- When done, navigate to Action > Click on Scan for hardware changes, allow 1 to 2 minutes and you will have Audio drivers re-installed again.
- Restart the computer and check Audio.
